Job summary

Gulf Island is seeking a Certified Sub Arc Machine Operator to weld structural steel and pipe components in an outdoor shop setting. You will set up and operate SAW and automatic welders, following AWS D1.1 and QA procedures to ensure passable NDT results.

The role requires passing written and practical tests, a pre-employment physical and background check, and strong communication skills for daily reporting.

Qualifications

• Must be a Certified sub Arc Machine Operator.
• Must be able to pass written and practical welding tests.
• Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
• Must pass background check.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate welding machines for SAW and automatic welding.
• Perform welding on structural or pipe projects with quality control.
• Pass AWS D1.1 welding tests and maintain QA standards.
• Ensure welding quality passes NDT procedures.
• Perform welding safely and follow instructions with minimal supervision.
• Use hand tools and operate lifts as needed.
• Read and follow written/verbal instructions.
