Job summary

AdventHealth in Kissimmee, Florida is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to support the operating room and other clinical settings. You will select materials, ensure proper packaging, and operate sterilization equipment to maintain aseptic standards.

The role involves following strict procedures, maintaining logs, and collaborating with department teams. Requires High School diploma or equivalent, CRCST or CSPDT certification, and 1+ related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Selects appropriate materials and sterilization packaging for each instrument set, ensuring proper wrapping for aseptic technique.
• Ensures sterilization indicators and lot stickers are present on all instrument sets and packages.
• Operates complex sterilization equipment, selecting correct method per manufacturer instructions.
• Reviews and signs all sterilizer recording charts to verify proper sterilization parameters before release.
• Monitors sterilizer printouts, maintains records, and documents requirements in logs or computer systems.
• Identifies and segregates reusable items for decontamination, disinfection, and sterilization, selecting cleaning methods.
• Disassembles and inspects items for damage or missing components, ensuring safe operation of equipment.
• Assembles instruments and instrument sets, recording information in tracking systems or log sheets.
• Uses recall processes for sterilization failures and notifies supervisors of results.
• Communicates with hospital departments to resolve issues using the chain of command.
• Participates in training new employees and attending meetings to maintain knowledge.
• Rotates assignments among decontamination, tray assembly, sterilization processes, and equipment management.
• Other duties as assigned.
