Job summary

Piedmont Medical Network - Fort Mill Hospital is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to decontaminate, clean, process, and sterilize supplies and equipment in accordance with infection control practices. Responsibilities include running tests at start of day, cleaning and assembling instruments, sorting and storing sterile items, and ensuring compliance with PPE and regulatory standards.

The role supports other departments and provides education on sterilization.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required or equivalent.
• Certification in sterile processing (IAHCSMM or CBSPD) required.
• BLS CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Run biological and chemical tests at the start of day and record results.
• Receive and clean soiled instruments and prepare for sterilization.
• Sort sterile items, store properly, and ensure PPE compliance.
• Work to ensure departmental regulatory standards are met and participate in PI activities.
• Provide education on sterilization to hospital staff and other areas as needed.
• Perform related duties as required.

Job Summary

Responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing, and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by the department and following infection control practices.

Responsibilities

• Runs biological and chemical tests at beginning of day and records in appropriate log. Runs test packs sterilizer load and records results.
• Receives and cleans soiled instruments and other usable patient supply items in decontamination area. Assembles packages and sterilizes all instruments and equipment.
• Sorts all sterile items, stores in proper place, and organizes sterile supplies. Complies with PPE requirements.
• Effective and efficient use of equipment, supplies and people. Identifies inefficiencies and inaccuracies, responding appropriately. Actively participates in departmental/facility PI activities. Works to ensure the department meets regulatory standards.
• Provides services to other areas of hospital and keeps logs. Acts as a resource and provides education on sterilization to hospital.
• Performs related duties as required.

Qualifications

Required:

• Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
• Experience: Up to 1 year of work experience required.
• Certifications/Registrations/Licenses:
  • Sterile Processing certification required through IAHCSMM or CBSPD.
  • American Heart Association BLS CPR certification required.
