Job summary

Easterseals Western and Central Pennsylvania is seeking a full-time Certified School Nurse to serve children aged 3–8 at our school program in West Mifflin, PA. The position provides health care and nursing services, consultation, and collaboration with parents and staff.

Requirements include a BSN, PA RN license, PA DOE School Nurse Certificate, and experience with students with special health needs. Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 35 hours weekly, with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement health care and emergency care plans for individual students.
• Train staff on procedures for health care and emergency care plans.

• Conduct health screenings in accordance with PA state requirements.
• Support implementation of students’ IEPs with health-related accommodations and interventions.
• Track and maintain immunization records and medical files; report to county health departments and the Department of Education.

Job Details: Job Location: South School Site - West Mifflin, PA 15122, Position Type: Full Time, Education Level: 4 Year Degree, Salary Range: $37.00, Easterseals Western and Central Pennsylvania is a non-profit disability organization looking to hire a full-time Certified School Nurse to work with children 3 - 8 years old in our Easterseals School program located in West Mifflin, PA. It comes with an hourly wage of $37.00 per hour and comes with a full benefit package valued at 6k.

Certified School Nurse

The Certified School Nurse is responsible for medical care and nursing services to students with special needs. They are also responsible for providing consultation, training, and support to employees and parents as required. Additionally, they are responsible for managing student health plans and participating in IEP meetings when health needs affect educational access.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing
• Valid PA Registered Nurse License
• PA DOE School Nurse Certificate
• Working knowledge and experience working with children with special health care needs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Develop and implement health care and emergency care plans specific to individual student needs.Train staff as needed on procedures for implementation of both health care and emergency care plans.
2. Handle routine and emergency care for children enrolled in the school program.
3. Conduct health screenings (heights, weights) in accordance with PA state requirements.
4. Implement interdisciplinary aspects of students’ current Individualized Educational Plan (IEP), which includes, but is not limited to, the following: communication systems, feeding approaches, mobility recommendations, sensory diets, and behavioral interventions.
5. Track and maintain immunization records and medical files. Report to the appropriate county health departments and the Department of Education.
