Job summary

The Greencastle-Antrim School District seeks a qualified School Nurse to provide nursing services in the school setting, supporting student health and coordinating care with district staff.

Responsibilities include supervising medication administration, basic assessment and first aid, maintaining health records, and ensuring compliance with required clearances and CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a current RN license.
• Experience working with school-age children.
• Valid PA School Nurse certification or willingness to obtain.
• CPR certification maintained.
• Clear FBI, PA Child Abuse, and PA Criminal History clearances.
• Mandated Reporter training completed.
• Physical and TB tests completed within the last 90 days.

Job description

The CSN may perform any and all duties and procedures that are permitted by licensure in the state of Pennsylvania.

General Purpose: Provide nursing services in the school setting.

Essential Functions

• Supervise student's self-administration of medications according to district policy

• Provide basic first aid


• Assist with mandated screenings and examinations as directed by the district's consulting physician/dentist


• Document health room visits


• Answer telephone as needed


• Maintain confidentiality of the health room setting.


• Maintains health records


• Supervising LPN and LPN/RN substitute nurses as well as nursing students and high school interns


• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, college or practical nursing program with a current license as a Registered Nurse


• Some experience working with school age children


• A valid PA Certificate as a School Nurse or willingness to obtain certification


• Must maintain current certification in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation


• Must have valid employment clearances for FBI, PA Child Abuse, PA Criminal History


• Must complete Mandated Reporter training


• Must have physical/tb test completed within the last 90 days

Preferred

• Previous nursing experience in a school system


• Previous managerial experience
