Job summary

MasTec is seeking a Rigging Specialist to set up rigging for construction projects and manufacturing plants. You will read plans, verify rigging equipment, and assist in lifting operations while upholding strict safety standards.

Responsibilities include signaling operators, guiding loads, inspecting gear, and supporting pre-lift planning. Strong knowledge of rigging equipment and safety protocols is required.

Qualifications

• 4+ years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
• High School diploma or GED Certification (preferred)
• Applicable Rigger training and certificate from NCCER, NCCCO, or from approved 3rd party certification body

Responsibilities

• Know proper hand signals to communicate with equipment operator
• Read and interpret project plans, blueprints and diagrams
• Interpret measuring tools (tape measure, framing square, etc.) to perform tasks accurately
• Inspect rigging equipment prior to use for wear, damage or deterioration
• Attach slings, chokers, spreader bars, etc., to materials to be moved
• Move loads using hoists, chain falls, snatch blocks or come alongs
• Act as safety observer on equipment lifts
• Plan or assist in pre-planning of lifts
• Guide load during lift and positioning
• Signal equipment operator during lifts for directional instructions
• Climb structures to guide and position load
• Detach loads and remove rigging equipment
• Ensure daily safety checks of equipment
• Follow health and safety guidelines
