Job summary

First American is seeking an experienced residential real estate appraiser in the Duluth area to perform unbiased valuations and prepare USPAP-compliant reports. You will inspect properties on-site, document data with photos, measurements, sketches, and notes for lenders and clients.

You will use MLS and local data sources, apply appraisal approaches, and coordinate with senior staff to ensure timely delivery and quality.

Qualifications

• Must hold active Appraiser Certification as required by state regulatory agency.
• Strong analytical and narrative writing skills for detailed appraisal reports.
• Ability to analyze data, draw sound conclusions and summarize results for lenders and clients.
• Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey findings clearly.

Responsibilities

• Conducts unbiased residential real estate valuations by analyzing market and property data and completes USPAP-compliant appraisal reports.
• Inspects residential properties on-site, collecting photographs, measurements, sketches, and notes.
• Considers factors influencing value including location, market conditions, quality, and condition.
• Proficient with sales comparison, cost, and income approaches to value.
• Uses MLS and local real estate data sources effectively.
• Familiar with major appraisal forms (1004, 2055, 1073, 1075, 1025, etc.).
• Collaborates with Senior Appraisers and Helpdesk to ensure quality and process improvements.
• Participates in monthly appraisal meetings and maintains turn-time expectations.
• Escalates timeframes when deadlines cannot be met.
