Job summary

Hussmann seeks an experienced HVAC/R Technician to maintain and repair commercial refrigeration systems in supermarkets and cold storage facilities. You will perform routine maintenance, diagnose issues, and repair HVAC/R components under supervision from a Master or Lead Technician.

The role requires 5 years in the field or 3 years with HVAC certification for external candidates, or 1 year of internal experience with OJT.

Qualifications

Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
EPA 608 Universal Certification.
HVAC-R technical schooling preferred.
External Candidates: 5 years in the field or 3 years with Certification from a Technical School; Internal Candidates: 1 year as a Qualified Technician with OJT & Skills Assessment.
Must have a Valid Driver’s License and maintain a safe driving record.

Responsibilities

Perform prescribed, routine maintenance procedures on supermarket refrigeration systems and self-contained temperature-controlled merchandisers.
Demonstrate operating knowledge of self-contained refrigeration, heating and air conditioning units with some direction from a Master or Lead Technician.
Perform preventative maintenance for convenient stores, small format, and supermarkets including compressor change assists, leak searching and coil washing.
Detect and repair leaks on racks or single-unit piping, diagnose low air flow, and replace motors as needed.
Complete necessary documents (work tickets and time sheets) and use a hand-held computer for invoicing.
