Job summary

Prime Healthcare's Montclair Hospital Medical Center is seeking a part-time Certified Phlebotomy Technician I in Montclair, CA. You will perform blood collection for analysis, handle clerical tasks, and maintain specimen integrity under supervision of the Laboratory Director/Manager.

Requirements include a High School Diploma, completion of a phlebotomy training program, active California CPT I license, and BLS within 45 days.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Completion of a formal phlebotomy training program or equivalent on-the-job training with documented competency.
Active California Certified Phlebotomy Technician I license required.
BLS certification within forty-five days of hire and maintained current.
Minimum of one year of clinical laboratory experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

Performs skin puncture or venipuncture on patients of all ages for blood specimen collection.
Performs computer data entry, filing, telephone communication and other clerical duties.
Demonstrates knowledge of test terminology ordered in the laboratory and communicates with patients politely.
Demonstrates proper phlebotomy technique and use of equipment for specimen collection from newborns to geriatrics.
Processes and loads specimens for analysis and refers to reference laboratories when needed.
Stocks routine supplies and maintains cleanliness of storage areas and equipment.
May assist with sample pickup, specimen sorting, inventory, and other duties as assigned by department leadership.
