Job summary

MercyOne is seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join our team in Iowa. You will prepare medication orders, deliver medications and IV admixtures, restock supplies, and assist pharmacists with audits and unit inspections in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualified candidates should have a High School Diploma or GED, Iowa Board registration, and PTCB certification. Completion of mandatory abuse training within three months is required; rotating shifts are available to support patient care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED when nationally certified through NHA.
• PTCB nationally certified technicians do NOT require HS diploma or GED.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification.
• Registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy at time of hire.
• Completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training for child and dependent adult abuse within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepares medication orders.
• Delivers medications and IV admixtures to patient rooms, critical care areas, and other areas.
• Credits to the patient and restocks usable medications/IVs returned to the pharmacy.
• Assists the pharmacists with audits and completes assigned unit inspections.
• Restocks automated medication dispensing machines.
• Restock stackle boxes and cart inserts (crash carts, airway carts, latex carts).
• Communicates stock utilization and ordering needs.
• Compounds and labels extemporaneous liquid and solid products for patients.
• Prepares IV admixtures including TPNs, chemotherapy IVs, IV piggybacks, and syringes.
• Maintains knowledge of applicable laws and Trinity Health policies to ensure ethical, compliant behavior.

Compounds and labels extemporaneous liquid and solid products for patients according to procedure.

Prepares IV admixtures including TPNs, chemotherapy IVs, IV piggybacks, and syringes following strictly described, specific policies and procedures.

Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and proceduresin order toensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
