Job summary

MercyOne Central Iowa Medical Center, part of Trinity Health, seeks a part-time Pharmacy Technician for weekend shifts. You will assist in drug preparation, IV admixtures, medication deliveries, and stock management under pharmacist supervision.

The role requires PTCB certification and Iowa Board of Pharmacy registration, with mandatory abuse training within three months of hire. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED when nationally certified through NHA.
• PTCB nationally certified technicians do NOTrequireHS diploma or GED.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification and Registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy at time of hire andproof of.
• Completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training for child and dependent adult abuse within three (3) months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepares medication orders.
• Delivers medications and IV admixtures to patient rooms, critical care areas, and other ancillary areas.
• Credits to the patient and restocks usable medications/IVs returned to the pharmacy.
• Assists the pharmacists with audits and completes assigned unit inspections.
• Restocks automated medication dispensing machines.
• Restocks stackle boxes and cart inserts, and completes check in/out process.
• Communicates stock utilization and ordering needs.
• Compounds and labels extemporaneous liquid and solid products for patients according to procedure.
• Prepares IV admixtures including TPNs, chemotherapy IVs, IV piggybacks, and syringes following policies.

Position summary

Provides technical support in the delivery of pharmaceutical care to clients of MercyOne Central Iowa Medical Center. Technical support includes the preparation and delivery of medications and sterile products, stocking and ordering of drugs and other products. Technical work is performed under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

Shift: 4-hours shifts on the weekends

What you will do

• Prepares medication orders.

• Communicates stockutilizationand ordering needs.
• Compounds and labels extemporaneous liquid and solid products for patients according to procedure.
• Prepares IV admixtures including TPNs, chemotherapy IVs, IV piggybacks, and syringes following strictly described, specific policies and procedures.
• Provides training and mentoring to new employees andassistsin directing workflow as needed.
• .Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and proceduresin order toensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
