Job summary

MercyOne Central Iowa Medical Center in Newton, IA, is seeking a part-time Pharmacy Technician for weekend shifts. You will provide technical support in pharmaceutical care, prepare medication orders, and assist licensed pharmacists under supervision.

Responsibilities include delivering medications and IV admixtures, restocking automated dispensing machines, assisting with audits, training new staff, and maintaining compliant workflow with state and federal regulations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (NHA certification) required or implied.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification required.
• Current registration with Iowa Board of Pharmacy at time of hire. Completion of the mandatory reporter abuse training within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepares medication orders and delivers medications and IV admixtures to patient areas.
• Restocks automated dispensing machines and labeled supplies as needed.
• Assists pharmacists with audits and unit inspections.
• Restocks stock and supplies, and communicates stock utilization and ordering needs.
• Provides training and mentoring to new employees and supports workflow management.

Position summary

Provides technical support in the delivery of pharmaceutical care to clients of MercyOne Central Iowa Medical Center. Technical support includes the preparation and delivery of medications and sterile products, stocking and ordering of drugs and other products. Technical work is performed under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

Shift: 4-hours shifts on the weekends

What you will do

• Prepares medication orders.
• Deliversmedications and IV admixtures to patient rooms, critical care areas, and other ancillary areas.
• Credits to the patient andrestocksusable medications/IVs returned to the pharmacy.
• Assiststhe pharmacists with audits and completes assigned unit inspections.
• Restocksautomated medication dispensing machines.
• Restockstackle boxes and cart inserts (crash carts, airway carts, latex carts), andcompletescheck in/out process.
• Communicates stockutilizationand ordering needs.
• Compounds and labels extemporaneous liquid and solid products for patients according to procedure.
• Prepares IV admixtures including TPNs, chemotherapy IVs, IV piggybacks, and syringes following strictly described, specific policies and procedures.
• Provides training and mentoring to new employees andassistsin directing workflow as needed.
• .Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and proceduresin order toensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED when nationally certified through NHA.
• PTCB nationally certified technicians do NOTrequireHS diploma or GED.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification and Registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy at time of hire andproof of.
• Completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training for child and dependent adult abuse within three (3) months of hire.
