Job summary

Trinity Health in Mason City, IA is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to prepare medication orders, deliver medications and IV admixtures to patient areas, and support the pharmacy team.

Candidates must have a HS diploma or GED (or national certification), be registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy, and complete mandatory abuse training within three months of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED when nationally certified through NHA.
• PTCB nationally certified technicians do NOT require HS diploma or GED.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification is required.
• Registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepares medication orders.
• Delivers medications and IV admixtures to patient rooms and critical care areas.
• Restocks usable medications/IVs returned to the pharmacy and tracks inventory.
• Assists pharmacists with audits and completes unit inspections.
• Restocks automated dispensing machines and cart inserts.
• Assists with stock utilization and communicates ordering needs.
• Compounds and labels extemporaneous liquid and solid products for patients.
• Prepares IV admixtures including TPNs, chemotherapy IVs, IV piggybacks, and syringes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Prepares medication orders.

Deliversmedications and IV admixtures to patient rooms, critical care areas, and other ancillary areas.

Credits to the patient andrestocks usable medications/IVs returned to the pharmacy.

Assiststhe pharmacists with audits and completes assigned unit inspections.

Restocksautomated medication dispensing machines.

Restockstackle boxes and cart inserts (crash carts, airway carts, latex carts), andcompletescheck in/out process.

Communicates stockutilizationand ordering needs.

Compounds and labels extemporaneous liquid and solid products for patients according to procedure.

Prepares IV admixtures including TPNs, chemotherapy IVs, IV piggybacks, and syringes following strictly described, specific policies and procedures.

Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and proceduresin order toensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or GED when nationally certified through NHA.

National Pharmacy Technician Certification

Registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy at time of hire andproof of.

Completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training for child and dependent adult abuse within three (3) months of hire.
