Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist the pharmacist with preparing, labeling, and dispensing medications, ensuring accuracy and patient safety in a hospital setting.

The role includes handling insurance/Rx denials, inventory and cash management, dispensing records, charges processing, and maintaining a clean, sterile work environment. Minimum high school diploma; retail pharmacy experience preferred; licensure/certification required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; pharmacy technician program preferred.
• PTCB or NHA certification required.
• Retail pharmacy experience preferred; strong math and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots insurance and Rx denials.
• Maintains petty cash and change fund balances.
• Mixes pharmaceutical preparations and fills bottles/blister packs with prescribed tablets and capsules.
• Assists pharmacist to prepare and dispense medications.
• Receives and stores incoming supplies; counts stock and updates inventory records.
• Processes records of medications dispensed and computes charges in the computer.
• Cleans equipment and sterilizes glassware according to procedures.
