Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support the community pharmacy team and patients. The role goes beyond dispensing to proactive, patient-centered care with opportunities to obtain immunization certification. Expect day shift with PRN as needed.

Responsibilities include processing prescriptions, handling prior authorizations, managing inventory, and participating in immunization and MTM services in collaboration with pharmacists.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Graduate of a pharmacy technician program preferred.
• Experience in a community pharmacy setting is preferred.
• Pharmacy Technician Licensure required.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or Certification through NHA required.

Responsibilities

• Process, fill and label prescriptions under a pharmacist’s supervision.
• Initiate, follow-up, and obtain Prior Authorizations.
• Prepare, send, and receive orders for medications and supplies; maintain inventory.
• Identify and enroll patients in medication synchronization (med sync).
• Conduct monthly follow-up calls with patients to confirm medication needs and discuss changes.
• Assist pharmacists in delivering immunizations, MTM, and chronic disease management.
• Document patient care activities and coordinate with the healthcare team.
• Engage in proactive care strategies and preventative measures with pharmacists.
• Obtain certification to administer immunizations.
• Contribute to workflow improvements and quality initiatives.
• Handle petty cash and point-of-sale transactions.
