Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy department. The role supports pharmacists in processing prescriptions, insurance billing, vaccine administration where allowed by law, and patient service with a focus on accuracy and confidentiality.

You will gather patient information, label medications, assist with inventory and cash transactions, and maintain compliance with HIPAA and store policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certified as a licensed technician through a certified national program; must maintain continuing education requirements to keep license active.
• Previous experience as a pharmacy technician or pharmacy clerk preferred.
• Vaccination certification required if administering vaccines, as required by law.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile.
• Assist with prescription processing and insurance billing.
• Gather and maintain accurate patient information required to prepare prescriptions.
• Prepare and affix labels to prescription containers and prepare prescriptions to be mailed.
• Submit insurance claims and troubleshoot third-party billing.
• Assist pharmacists in preparing prescription drug products for dispensing.
• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and pharmacy safety standards.
• Stock supplies and perform cash transactions.
