Job summary

Hy‑Vee is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists in processing prescriptions, handling insurance, and delivering exceptional customer service in our Liberty, MO location. You will prepare medications, verify patient information, stock supplies, and assist with vaccine administration where permitted, all while upholding HIPAA privacy and store standards.

The role requires a high school diploma, a valid pharmacy technician license, and ongoing CE, with opportunities to grow

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certified pharmacy technician license; continuing education required to keep license active.
• Previous experience as a pharmacy technician or clerk preferred.
• Vaccination certification required if administering vaccines, as required by law.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service and greet customers.
• Handle inquiries that do not require a pharmacist's expertise and judgment.
• Process new written prescriptions and telephoned refill requests under supervising pharmacist.
• Contact doctors' offices to request/refill prescriptions as needed.
• Maintain accurate patient information for prescription preparation.
• Assist pharmacists in preparing prescription drug products for dispensing.
• Prepare labels and prescriptions for mailing.
• Submit insurance claims and assist with third-party billing and troubleshooting.
• File prescriptions after dispensing and report medication errors to appropriate personnel.
• Order, check in, and stock pharmacy supplies and log invoices.
• Perform cash transactions accurately.
• Administer vaccines as allowed by law, with required certification where applicable.
• Maintain cleanliness of the pharmacy and dispensing area; protect patient privacy (HIPAA).
• Adhere to all pharmacy laws and store policies; work with team for customer satisfaction.
• Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as assigned.
