Job summary

Unity Health Care is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to support prescription preparation, medication distribution, and inventory control under the supervision of a Pharmacist. The role focuses on maintaining data integrity and compliance with federal and DC regulations while delivering patient-centered care in Washington, DC.

The ideal candidate holds a DC Pharmacy Technician license, has at least 6 months of pertinent experience, and is proficient with pharmacy software and databases.

Qualifications

  • Current D.C. Pharmacy Technician License.
  • Six months of experience in a hospital, outpatient, or retail pharmacy.
  • Proficient with pharmacy data accuracy and stock control.
  • Knowledge of federal and DC regulations in pharmacy.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare prescriptions by counting doses accurately.
  • Prepare unit dose and watch-take medications.
  • Refer physician calls and medical questions to the Pharmacist.
  • Implement inventory control procedures and stock orders.
  • Perform checks for expired medications and ensure accuracy.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Pharmacist, the Certified Pharmacy Technician provides a full range of technical support duties within the pharmacy. The position assists with prescription preparation, medication distribution, inventory control, data integrity, and other pharmacy operations while adhering to applicable federal and DC regulations, licensing requirements, and Unity Health Care policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare prescriptions by counting the exact number of dosages to be dispensed.
  • Prepare unit dose and watch-take medications.
  • Refer physician calls and customer medical questions to the Pharmacist.
  • Implement inventory control procedures and order stock under the direction of the Pharmacist and within regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform regular checks for expired medications.
  • Deliver medications to inmates.
  • Provide technical assistance to the Pharmacy.
  • Maintain pharmacy databases to support data integrity and adherence to user standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current D.C. Pharmacy Technician License.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Six (6) months of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital, outpatient, or retail pharmacy.
  • Technical computer skills, including working knowledge of relational databases.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical and pharmacy practices obtained through coursework or on-the-job training.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and DC government regulations and guidelines pertaining to pharmacy.
