Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The associate is responsible for the following functions, in addition to other duties as assigned:
- Delivering superior customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, suggestive selling, handling special requests, and resolving minor issues promptly and courteously.
- Assisting customers at the register with sales of prescriptions, OTC products, groceries, and other items.
- Identifying customer needs, helping locate products, promoting products and services, and collaborating with pharmacists to resolve issues.
- Operating and maintaining knowledge of equipment such as registers, phones, computers, fax machines, scanners, and prescription systems.
- Retrieving prescriptions and refills, preparing prescriptions for pharmacists, and managing prescription labeling and data entry.
- Working with patients and insurance companies to resolve insurance-related issues for claims processing.
- Assisting with patient information documentation, insurance or discount card collection, and data entry.
- Providing assistance during prescription pick-up, verifying prescriptions, gathering signatures, and ensuring HIPAA compliance.
- Assisting pharmacists with inventory control, ordering, receiving, checking invoices, and managing stock.
- Supporting pharmacists operationally and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment.
- Reporting suspected prescription errors immediately.
- Following applicable laws, regulations, standards, and policies to ensure safety and privacy.
- Promoting eligible pharmacy services to patients, such as autofill, medication synchronization, alerts, and immunizations.
- Supporting Medication Therapy Management preparations.
- Performing additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Supporting and embodying Weis Markets' Mission, Vision, and Values.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not currently have supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, the associate must meet the following requirements:
- Valid driver’s license for business travel.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Pharmacy Technician License in states requiring licensure.
- Active National Certified Technician certification.
