Company Description

Pharmacy Technician (Level I)

Since 1981, Ward Road Pharmacy (WRP) has proudly served our community with excellence, specializing in Long Term Care, Compounding, and Homecare Products. We’re your friendly, local alternative to large corporate pharmacies—a “one-stop shop” for prescription and homecare supplies. Our daily delivery service ensures patients and facilities get what they need, when they need it. At Ward Road Pharmacy, we live by our motto: “Large enough to serve and small enough to care.”

Job Description

  • Accurately and efficiently fill prescription orders, including filling via vials or blister packing.
  • Measure dosage of medications according to prescription orders.
  • Understand regulatory requirements for filling and labeling prescriptions.
  • Assist with both inbound and outbound phone calls.
  • Identify which calls can be addressed independently and which require redirection to a pharmacist (e.g., new prescriptions, medication consultations).
  • Troubleshoot delivery concerns and communicate issues effectively to customers, pharmacies, or peers.

Customer Interaction:

  • Understand HIPAA privacy rules and ensure proper communication and paperwork completion.
  • Verify patient information (name, address, date of birth, insurance, etc.), number of prescriptions, and coordinate consultations with pharmacists.

Documentation and Delivery:

  • Follow protocol for pharmacy deliveries via internal or external couriers, including outbound calls to confirm receipt.
  • Batch reconcile deliveries within the pharmacy system and file paperwork according to policy.
  • File all documentation according to policy and/or law.

Inventory and Maintenance:

  • Maintain appropriate stock of vials, lids, printer paper, and labels, and communicate low stock issues.
  • Assist Inventory Technician with out-dates and proper shelf maintenance monthly.
  • Maintain a clean working environment, including personal space and entire premises (e.g., trash removal, cleaning shelves, floors, bathrooms, counters, and breakroom).

Qualifications:

  • Assist with other projects as necessary.
