Job Description:

The Pharmacy Technician demonstrates consistent application of knowledge and skills in assisting the pharmacist in the execution of appropriate, safe, efficacious, efficient, and cost-effective pharmaceutical care. The position participates in many procedural aspects of pharmacy practice under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist or technician supervisor and is an integral part of the pharmacy team. This position supports Pharmacy Services in various locations, including acute, community, ambulatory, and specialty settings.

Work Schedule:

This position will work 8-hour days, Monday through Friday, starting at 8 or 8:30 a.m. depending on workload. Occasional work on a Saturday may be required once or twice per year.

This role involves telephonic communication with patients and electronic communication with clinic staff and providers. No medication dispensing is involved.

Essential Functions:

  1. Assist with all phases of pharmacy services under supervision, as required by state practice laws and job duties.
  2. Answer phones and provide excellent customer service.
  3. Assist pharmacists in collecting patient information and maintaining records per regulations and policies.
  4. Utilize pharmacy technology to prepare medication orders, perform calculations, and compound medications as appropriate.
  5. Obtain supervision and accuracy checks from pharmacists and understand verification requirements.
  6. Maintain medication supplies, verify inventories, and manage controlled substances securely and accurately.
  7. Package and label medications accurately to minimize waste.
  8. Ensure pharmacy cleanliness and orderliness.
  9. Communicate with caregivers about responsibilities and concerns, participate in quality and safety initiatives, and escalate safety hazards as needed.
  10. Participate in departmental meetings, contribute ideas for process improvements, and support best practices.
  11. Promote the mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health and adhere to service standards.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned, delivering consistent, flexible, detail-oriented care.

  2. Compliant with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines.
  3. Support financial responsibilities of the department and organization.
  4. Deliver medications and information professionally and timely.
  5. Able to perform essential duties satisfactorily, with necessary knowledge, skills, and training.
  6. Maintain regular attendance and work as scheduled, either on-site or remotely.
  7. Effective communication within a team.
  8. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  9. Proficient in computer use, including Microsoft Office and Google applications.
  10. Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Current pharmacy technician certification and/or license applicable to the state.
  3. Knowledge of state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations.
  4. Failure to meet these requirements may lead to disciplinary actions or termination.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Fluency in English and another language, preferably Spanish.
  2. CPhT certification preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Carrying, hearing, lifting, manual dexterity, pulling/pushing, seeing, climbing, crawling, speaking, squatting/kneeling, standing, walking as needed.

Location:

Nevada Central Office, Las Vegas, Nevada

Work Hours:

40 hours per week. The hourly rate ranges from $19.73 to $30.06, dependent on experience.
