Job summary

East Providence School Department is seeking substitutes for the SY 26-27 cycle. The role covers regular classroom duties across grade levels as needed, with per diem rates and no guaranteed days.

Starting immediately, substitutes must have a valid RI teaching certificate or be eligible, and complete required background checks and onboarding before first assignment. Assignments posted through Frontline/Aesop.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher required for substitute teaching assignments.
• Must possess or be eligible for a valid Rhode Island Substitute Teacher Certificate.
• Pre-Employment Requirements include background checks and onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to the EP School Department policies and directives.
• Reports to the assigned building on time and checks in at the main office.
• Delivers plans according to lesson plans and instructions left by the teacher.
• Maintains a safe, respectful, and orderly classroom environment.
• Takes attendance and supervises students during assigned duties.
• Follows health, safety, emergency and evacuation procedures.
• Implements accommodations identified in IEPs and 504 plans.
• Returns keys and district-issued items to the office at the end of the assignment.
