Job summary

Resources for Human Development is seeking a Certified Peer Specialist to provide peer support, advocacy, and recovery education to Persons in Recovery in Raleigh, NC. The role focuses on building wellness, strengthening supports, and helping clients regain control of their recovery.

The CPS will work primarily in the community, model RHD values, maintain confidentiality, and document services per program standards. A valid CPS certification and driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Pennsylvania CPS Certification required.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass Act 33 and State Police background checks.
• At least 12 months of paid or volunteer experience in the past 3 years (one year of recent education may substitute).

Responsibilities

• Provide peer support, advocacy, recovery education, and skill-building to Persons in Recovery.
• Foster hope and promote wellness.
• Document progress and maintain program records.
• Facilitate identification of strengths, supports, and community resources.
• Use Motivational Interviewing to support behavior change.
