GEO Reentry Services, LLC is seeking a Certified Peer Counselor to promote growth and wellness for residents receiving mental health services. You will work closely with the clinical team to guide recovery, support skill development, and foster a constructive peer culture within the treatment facility.

The role emphasizes coordinating with state and local resources, helping residents access benefits, and advocating for their needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
• Associate's degree preferred.
• CPS certification issued by the state where the position functions.
• One year of volunteer, facilitator or counselor experience in a community rehabilitative setting.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with others and handle difficult interpersonal contacts.
• Valid, active driver's license.
• Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates delivery of cognitive behavioral curriculum in a group setting.
• Establishes and maintains a network of community-based services.
• Develops and maintains relationships with program administrators who can assist residents upon release.
• Support residents in navigating public financial support with insurance and other resources.
• Help residents obtain benefits and proper identification; transport to events using company vehicle.
• Identify members for peer council and advocate with collateral contacts.
• Assist residents in working with their case manager to achieve recovery goals.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
