The role requires a formal phlebotomy education, ASCP certification, and 3+ years of phlebotomy experience (2 years in a diagnostic setting or 1 year in pediatrics).

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or GED required.
  • Successful completion of formal phlebotomy course (junior college level) or equivalent training.
  • Minimum of three (3) years phlebotomy experience (two in a diagnostic setting) OR one year in a pediatric facility.
  • ASCP Certification in Phlebotomy required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform positive patient identification and collection of laboratory specimens for inpatients and outpatients.
  • Input specimen information into the laboratory information system and assist with patient registration as needed.
  • Maintain specimen integrity during collection, transport, and processing; communicate issues to caregivers.
