Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED required.
• Have a minimum of one year phlebotomy experience, pediatric experience preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred but not required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Perform positive patient identification and collection of laboratory specimens in an outpatient setting.
• Input specimen information into the laboratory information system and conduct patient registration as necessary.
• Determine appropriate collection containers and volumes based on patient weight and testing requirements.
• Maintain specimen integrity during collection, transport, and processing of samples.
• Communicate orders and/or specimen issues directly to caregiver.
• Provide customer service by greeting visitors, answering the telephone, transferring calls, faxing results, and assisting with specimen requirements.
• Perform other clerical or clinical duties as required by area of service.
