Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta seeks a Phlebotomist to collect blood specimens from newborns through young adults in a pediatric hospital setting. You will perform venipuncture, ensure patient safety, and support lean process improvements.

Requires a high school diploma and 2 years of phlebotomy experience; ASCP certification and CPR are preferred. Duties include specimen handling, patient engagement, and clerical support in the lab.

Qualifications

• 2 years of phlebotomy experience, including venipuncture on patients from newborns to age 21.
• Knowledge of safety and patient privacy standards.
• Interest in lean process improvements in a hospital lab.

Responsibilities

• Collects laboratory specimens properly and safely from patients newborn through age 21 using excellent customer service skills.
• Performs blood collection procedures for a variety of tests and respects isolation criteria.
• Performs sweat collections according to standards.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and patient privacy related to HIPAA.
• Performs clerical duties related to specimen collection and patient care.
• Research test/client information using laboratory information system.
