Job summary

Ledgent-Finance- is seeking an experienced Certified Payroll Specialist in Sacramento, California, to manage certified payroll reporting for prevailing wage and public works projects. The role covers union and non-union payroll, ensuring compliance with California labor laws and detailed recordkeeping.

You will process weekly and bi-weekly payroll, review timecards and wage determinations, and support audits and payroll-related inquiries.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of payroll processing experience.
• Minimum 2 years of certified payroll and prevailing wage experience.
• Strong knowledge of California labor laws and public works compliance.
• Experience with union payroll preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees.
• Prepare and submit certified payroll reports in compliance with California prevailing wage requirements.
• Review timecards, labor classifications, prevailing wage determinations, and fringe benefit calculations.
• Ensure compliance with California labor laws, DIR requirements, Davis-Bacon regulations, and public works reporting standards.
• Process union payroll, including dues, benefits, and collective bargaining agreement requirements.
• Reconcile payroll records and assist with month-end reporting.
• Maintain employee payroll files and records.
• Respond to employee payroll questions and resolve discrepancies.
• Support audits, labor compliance reviews, and workers' compensation reporting.
• Collaborate with HR, Accounting, and Project Management teams to ensure payroll accuracy.
