Job summary

Sterling Industrial LLC. is seeking a Certified Payroll Specialist to join our construction payroll team in West Virginia.

The role focuses on certified payroll, prevailing wage, and project-specific payroll requirements, ensuring accurate pay, classifications, wage rates, fringe benefits, and required documentation. You will collaborate with Payroll, Human Resources, Project Teams, and Field Administration to maintain compliance, resolve discrepancies, and submit reports on time.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
• Three or more years of payroll experience in construction is a plus.
• Experience with certified payroll, prevailing wage, and wage determinations is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and timely, accurate reporting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and submit certified payroll reports per contract and regulatory requirements.
• Review classifications, wage determinations, and fringe benefits to ensure accurate pay.
• Monitor Davis Bacon and state prevailing wage requirements.
• Maintain current wage determinations and changes impacting pay rates.
• Investigate payroll discrepancies and resolve documentation issues.
• Coordinate with Project Teams to obtain timely payroll information.
• Maintain certified payroll records in compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Assist with payroll audits and respond to documentation requests.
• Identify opportunities to improve certified payroll processes and reporting.
• Provide guidance to Field Administration on certified payroll requirements.
