Job summary

United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV seeks a Patient Care Technician to perform nonprofessional direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will deliver high-quality patient care in coordination with licensed medical staff.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, BLS within 30 days, and CNA certification or WVU Patient Care Technician program completion. Prior patient care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• Must meet one of the following: Nationally certified patient care technician; Completion of WVUM Patient Care Technician program; Current CNA certification in the service state.

Responsibilities

• Observes and reports patient concerns to RN immediately.
• Assists RN with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.
• Records vital signs and assists with personal hygiene and comfort; tracks intake/output.
• Assists in specimen collection and other activities of assigned patients.
• Maintains a clean, safe environment to prevent infections and ensure patient safety.
• Reports equipment repairs to appropriate personnel promptly.
• Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures.
• Communicates with RN about nutrition issues or diet changes.
• Assists department with administrative tasks supporting operations.
• Answers patient call bell and relays messages.
