Job summary

Mercy is seeking an Occupational Therapy Assistant to assist with objective assessments and comprehensive individualized treatment programs for patients of all ages under the supervision of a licensed OT. You will document the course of patient care, administer appropriate modalities and exercises, and maintain progress notes and departmental records to support consistent care.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant program.
• Current license for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant or eligible for licensure in state of practice.
• One year experience is preferred but will consider new graduates.
• BLS certification required and must be current before assigned to care for patients independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist with initial patient assessments under direction from OT.
• Document the course of patient care including progress notes and the continuing need for treatment.
• Administer modalities, exercise regimes, or treatment procedures per department policies.
• Maintain progress notes and departmental records on each patient regarding documentation and charges.
• Participate in promoting education within the department.
• Demonstrate knowledge of needs across age groups from neonatal to geriatric.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as directed by the Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor.
