Job summary

Mercy is hiring a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in Missouri to support objective assessments and individualized treatment plans under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist. You will assist with initial assessments, document patient progress, and administer care modalities following Mercy policies and standards.

Must be a graduate of an accredited OTA program with current license or eligibility in Missouri.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Current license as OTA or eligibility to practice in Missouri.
  • BLS certification required.
  • One year of experience preferred; new graduates considered.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with initial patient assessments under supervision.
  • Document course of patient care including progress notes and treatment needs.
  • Administer modalities, exercises, or treatment procedures per policies.
  • Maintain progress notes and department records on each patient.
  • Promote education within the department and collaborate with team.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of care needs across neonatal to geriatric age groups.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as directed by the Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor.

  • Assist with initial assessment on each patient upon receiving direction from O.T.R./L. and according todepartmental policies and procedures.
  • Document the course of patient care including progress notes and the continuing need for treatment according to departmental policy.
  • Administer appropriate modalities, exercise regimes, or treatment procedures according to departmental policies and procedures on standards of treatment care.
  • Maintain progress notes and departmental records on each patientaccording to departmental policies regarding documentation and charges.
  • Participate in promoting education within the department
  • Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviors ofspecific age groups to include neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.

Position Details
Education:

Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupation Therapist Assistant program.

Licensure:

Current license for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant or eligible for licensure in state of practice.

Experience:

One year experience is preferred but will consider new graduates.

Certifications:

BLS certified. Required certifications must be current before assigned to care for patients independently.
