Job summary

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice occupational therapy in the state of employment.
• Hospital experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for the Adult or Geriatric patient, ages 18 years and over.
• Assist the Occupational Therapist when performing tests, evaluations, and complex treatment procedures.
• Observe, record, and report patient conditions and responses to treatment to the OT.
• Maintain daily records of treatment sessions and progress notes.
• Assist with consulting with family members, physicians, and other health care professionals.
• Assist with the care of the OT department and equipment.
• Assist with in-service programs and other meetings as assigned by the OT.
• Submit accurate patient charges in a timely manner.
• Conduct or participate in training medical and nursing personnel in OT techniques.
• Attend scheduled staff meetings, in-services and training programs.
• Participate in continuing education programs for self-development.
• Adhere to the Hospital Compliance Plan and report violations to the Compliance Officer.
• Demonstrate professional conduct and comply with policies and attendance.
• Comply with measures to prevent exposure to blood borne pathogens.
• Participate in Hazardous Material Program and safety practices.
• Perform other incidental and related duties as required.
• Develop understanding of abuse recognition responsibilities and refer appropriately.
• Participate in Performance Improvement activities.
• Limit access to PHI to the information reasonably necessary for the job; PHI access is controlled by ID/password.
