Job summary

Texoma Medical Center in Denison, TX is seeking an Operating Room Technician to support surgical teams in a fast-paced environment. The role requires CST/TS-C certification or documented past surgical technologist experience, and BLS training.

You will assist with instrumentation, aseptic technique, room setup and post-case cleaning. Ideal candidates read and interpret perioperative information, have basic computer skills, and demonstrate strong communication for diverse patient populations.

Qualifications

• Requires completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program (CST or TS-C) or proof of previous employment as a surgical technologist
• Must have current CST or TS-C certification or be a LVN or provide proof of employment as a practicing surgical technologist before Sept 1, 2009. BLS Healthcare Provider course per RQI guidelines during new hire orientation
• Must read and comprehend perioperative information. Basic computer literacy with keyboarding and Microsoft Windows. Able to communicate effectively with diverse patient age groups.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge of anatomy and physiology of surgical sites.
• Pass instruments on procedures or act as an assistant; hold retractors as needed.
• Practice aseptic technique and prepare room prior to surgery; clean room after surgery.
• Assist staff and surgeons to ensure instruments, supplies and equipment are available for procedures.
• Two years of OR experience as a scrub tech; work in instrument room as needed.
• Take assigned call as required; understand age-specific patient needs.
