Job summary

Qualifications

• Completion of accredited Surgical Technician program or documented proof of prior surgical technologist employment.
• Current CST certification or equivalent nursing credential; LVN acceptable with proof of employment.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification required before working in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Passes instruments on procedures and acts as an assistant; holds retractors as needed.
• Practice aseptic technique to maintain sterile fields.
• Assist in room preparation prior to surgery and clean the room afterward.
• Ensure instruments, supplies, and equipment are available for procedures; coordinate with staff and surgeons.
• Demonstrate knowledge of age-specific needs of patients and participate in cost containment in the OR.
