Job summary

Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital is seeking a part-time Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to implement individualized treatment programs for patients with physical and cognitive challenges. You will document progress, submit charges, and coordinate with the treatment team under supervision of the OTR.

Familiarity with hand dysfunction and ergonomics is preferred. A NB-COT certification (or eligibility) and BLS are required upon hire, with a comprehensive benefits package and

• Familiar with industrial rehab and ergonomics preferred.
• Hands: familiar with U/E hand dysfunction and injuries. Required
• COTA NB-COT certification or eligible upon hire required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA preferred or ARC preferred

Responsibilities

• Implements treatment programs for patients with physical, cognitive, or psychosocial dysfunction.
• Documents patient treatment according to laws and standards; submits charges for services.
• Maintains communication with treatment team and supervising OTR for goal setting, problem-solving and discharge planning.

About Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital

Corewell Health Farmington Hills opened on Jan. 19, 1965 as a 200-bed facility known then as Botsford General Hospital. Today, Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital is a 305-bed teaching facility with Level II trauma status.

Scope of Work

Under the supervision of the OTR, the COTA implements treatment programs for patients with physical, cognitive, or psychosocial dysfunction. The individual in this position is required to appropriately interact with all patients regardless of age or culture and to adhere to the Beaumont customer service standards. Documents patient treatment according to all applicable laws, rules, regulations, and professional standards of documentation. Submits charges for services provided. Maintains verbal, electronic and written communication with treatment team, including supervising OTR for purposes of goal setting, active problem-solving, treatment and discharge planning. Communicates observations of patient’s conditions and reactions to treatment.

Qualifications

• Required Associate’s Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university occupational therapy assistant program.
• Familiar with industrial rehab and ergonomics preferred. Preferred

• Occupational Therapy Assistant, Certified (COTA) - NB-COT National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy certified or eligible Upon Hire required
