Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital in Farmington Hills, MI seeks a dedicated Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support inpatient rehabilitation services under the supervision of an occupational therapist registered (OTR).

The role involves implementing treatment plans for patients with physical, cognitive, or psychosocial dysfunction, and documenting progress with adherence to regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy from an accredited OT program.
• Familiar with industrial rehab and ergonomics preferred.
• Familiar with UE hand dysfunction and injuries preferred.
• COTA - NB-COT certification by NB-COT or eligible.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required at hire; AHA/ARC preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with patients and treatment team; adheres to Beaumont customer service standards.

Corewell Health Farmington Hills opened on Jan. 19, 1965 as a 200-bed facility known then as Botsford General Hospital. Today, Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital is a 305-bed teaching facility with Level II trauma status.

Scope of Work

Under the supervision of the OTR, the COTA implements treatment programs for patients with physical, cognitive, or psychosocial dysfunction. The individual in this position is required to appropriately interact with all patients regardless of age or culture and to adhere to the Beaumont customer service standards. Documents patient treatment according to all applicable laws, rules, regulations, and professional standards of documentation. Submits charges for services provided. Maintains verbal, electronic and written communication with treatment team, including supervising OTR for purposes of goal setting, active problem-solving, treatment and discharge planning. Communicates observations of patient's conditions and reactions to treatment.

Qualifications

Required

• Associate's Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university occupational therapy assistant program.
• Familiar with industrial rehab and ergonomics preferred.
• Familiar with U/E hand dysfunction and injuries preferred.
• Occupational Therapy Assistant, Certified (COTA) - NB-COT National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy certified or eligible.
• Upon Hire required Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association preferred or Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross preferred.
