Job summary

Mercy is hiring an Occupational Therapy Assistant to support patient care across all ages under OT supervision. You will assist with initial assessments, document progress, administer modalities and therapeutic exercises, and maintain accurate records in line with department policies.

Qualifications include graduation from an accredited OTA program, current or eligible OTA licensure, and BLS certification; one year of experience preferred but new graduates are welcome.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
• Current license for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant or eligible for licensure in state of practice.
• One year experience preferred, but new graduates will be considered.
• BLS certification is required and current before caring for patients independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist with initial assessment on each patient under direction from OT and according to policies.
• Document the course of patient care including progress notes and the continuing need for treatment.
• Administer modalities, exercise regimes, or treatment procedures per department policies.
• Maintain progress notes and departmental records on each patient.
• Participate in promoting education within the department.
• Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviors across neonatal to geriatric ages.
• Perform miscellaneous job duties as directed by the Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor.
