Job summary

Vierra Falls Church, a Vierra Communities property, is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant to join our in-house skilled nursing team in Falls Church, VA. This full-time, non-exempt position offers a rewarding role delivering direct patient care and contributing to resident well-being.

You will collaborate with interdisciplinary staff, follow physician plans, and support rehabilitation goals while providing compassionate care to elderly residents in a supportive work environment.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid license and registration.
  • Experience with long-term care and/or geriatric care preferred.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have the patience, empathy, and compassion needed to care for elderly patients.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other healthcare professionals.
  • Requires proficiency in technology-driven patient care and HRIS and timekeeping/attendance software.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to assess medical condition, functional capabilities, limitations and rehabilitation potential.
  • Administer a treatment program with goals determined according to the patient’s capacity and tolerance under the physician’s direction.
  • Document and record the patient’s condition and educate patients and families in an appropriate physical therapy method.
  • Collaborate with all disciplines to provide patient-centered treatment and care.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Proved direct patient care to assess their medical condition, functional capabilities, limitations and restrictions and potential for rehabilitation.
  • Administer a treatment program with specific goals determined according to the patient’s capacity and tolerance under the direction of the Physician.
  • Document and record the patients’ condition and educate patients and families in an appropriate physical therapy method.
  • Collaborate with all disciplines to provide bet patient centered treatment and care.
Additional Requirements
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position; lift, push, pull, carry heavy objects. Stand for long periods of time, walk, bend and stretch.
  • Must be capable of exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally (less then 1/3 of the time), and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force frequently (1/2 of the time), and or up to 10 pounds of force constantly (2/3 or more of time) to move objects, equipment and/or patients.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend or crouch; use hands to manipulate tools, equipment, or controls; reach with hands and arms, balance, lift and perform medium to maximum transfer assists with patients.
  • Required to have visual and hearing acuity sufficient enough to assess patient safety and ability.
  • Work is mostly inside patient rooms or a clinic. This position is classified as a Category I for the purpose of exposure determination under the OSHA regulations regarding the Standard of Occupational Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens (29 CFR 1910.1030). Category I is defined as all procedures or job related tasks that involve an inherent risk for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids or tissues, or a potential for spills and/or splashes of blood or body fluids. The use of protective equipment and measures is required for every employee engaged in Category I tasks.
