• Monitor resident progress and document treatments and responses per facility policies and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate with Occupational Therapists, nursing staff, physicians, and other care team members.
• Ensure resident safety during therapy sessions following infection control and facility guidelines.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information per HIPAA and facility policies.
• Provide encouragement and support to residents throughout their rehabilitation journey.
• Promote a positive, respectful therapy environment.

Heartland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our rehabilitation team on a PRN basis. The COTA will work closely with the Occupational Therapist and interdisciplinary care team to provide quality, resident-centered therapy services that promote independence, safety, and improved quality of life.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Occupational Therapist in implementing individualized treatment plans designed to improve residents' functional abilities and independence.
• Guide residents through therapeutic exercises and activities of daily living (ADLs) to promote recovery and maximize independence.
• Monitor resident progress and accurately document treatments, interventions, and responses in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate effectively with Occupational Therapists, nursing staff, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
• Ensure resident safety during therapy sessions while following infection control, safety, and facility guidelines.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information in accordance with HIPAA and facility policies.
• Provide encouragement and support to residents throughout their rehabilitation journey.

Qualifications

• Current Florida Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license required.
• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
• Long-term care or skilled nursing facility experience preferred; new graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong commitment to compassionate, resident-centered care.
• Ability to build positive relationships with residents, families, and members of the care team.
