Salary: $26.89 - $38.00 / hour

This position is located in Waverly, NY, featuring a picturesque courtyard with a serene waterfall. We are rated as a 4-star facility with Care Compare.

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) will assist in ensuring the health and well-being of residents by providing occupational therapy treatments developed and recommended by a registered Occupational Therapist. New York State certification is required.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Director of Occupational Therapy in planning, developing, and implementing treatment programs for residents.
  • Create and facilitate group therapy programs that are mentally and physically stimulating for residents.
  • Document observations of residents' behavior and progress in Progress Notes.
  • Maintain attendance records and other departmental reports; record treatments in Medical Records.
  • Assist in training and supervising Occupational Therapy Aides and students.
  • Participate in Resident Care Planning and Family/Resident Care Plan review meetings.
  • Support departmental in-service programs as needed.
  • Complete MDS+ assessments as required.
  • Manage supplies and ensure cleanliness and maintenance of therapy areas.
  • Attend in-service training and departmental meetings.
  • Contribute ideas to improve resident care and job productivity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Occupational Therapy.
  • Follow safety protocols and promote a safe environment for staff and residents.
Qualifications
  • New York State Department of Education Certification and license as a COTA.
  • Ability to relate well to elderly residents and enjoy working with them.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to supervise staff and ensure high standards of care.

  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English at an intermediate or higher level.
