Job Summary
We are currently seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant for our Topeka region. The successful candidate will focus on the effects of injury on the social, emotional, and physiological conditions of individuals, assisting in meeting goals set by an evaluating therapist related to balance, motor skills, posture, and perceptual and cognitive abilities within the context of functional, everyday activities. Occupational Therapy helps individuals achieve greater independence by regaining physical, perceptual, and cognitive skills needed for activities of daily living.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Implement all aspects of Minds Matter, LLC philosophical principles in service delivery.
- Assist individuals in identifying needs and developing compensation techniques for brain injury consequences, offering creative solutions for daily activities.
- Contribute to evaluations addressing physical and mental abilities and analyze medical data for therapy strategies.
- Recommend changes to the supervising Occupational Therapist for consumers' work or living environments.
- Integrate employment, educational, and independent living goals into therapy.
- Collaborate with consumers and professional staff to monitor goal achievement.
- Attend team meetings and assist in goal setting.
- Provide services as authorized in each consumer’s plan of care.
- Assist with adaptive equipment, home modifications, and environment processes.
- Work directly with consumers to improve skills aligned with their life goals.
- Document sessions accurately and concisely on the same day.
- Educate families about brain injury and communicate progress and goals.
- Attend trainings and workshops to stay current with evidence-based practices.
- Establish and maintain professional rapport with consumers, colleagues, and community agencies.
- Work under the supervision of the assigned therapist.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Maintain care for issued devices like iPads and iPhones.
- Ensure confidentiality per HIPAA regulations.
- Potentially serve as team lead, updating goal plans and meeting records.

Education and Experience
- Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program and current Kansas licensure.
- Experience with people with disabilities is preferred.
