Job Summary

We are currently seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant for our Lawrence region. The successful candidate will focus on the effects of injury on the social, emotional, and physiological condition of individuals, and assist in meeting goals set by an evaluating therapist related to balance, motor skills, posture, and perceptual and cognitive abilities within functional, everyday activities. Occupational Therapy helps individuals achieve greater independence by regaining physical, perceptual, and cognitive skills needed for daily living.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Implement Minds Matter, LLC's philosophical principles in all service delivery aspects.
  • Assist individuals in identifying needs and developing compensation techniques for brain injury consequences, offering creative solutions for daily activities.
  • Participate in evaluations addressing physical and mental abilities, analyzing medical data to determine therapy strategies.
  • Recommend environmental changes to supervising Occupational Therapist to meet consumers' needs.
  • Integrate employment, educational, and independent living goals into therapy plans.
  • Collaborate with consumers and professional staff to monitor goal achievement.
  • Attend team meetings, assist in goal setting, and document sessions clearly and concisely.
  • Educate families about brain injury consequences and communicate progress.
  • Maintain professional development through training and workshops.
  • Establish rapport with consumers, colleagues, and community agencies.
  • Work under supervision, perform additional duties as assigned, and maintain confidentiality per HIPAA.
  • Possibly serve as a team lead, updating goal plans and meeting histories.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to teach skills to individuals with disabilities.
  • Sensitivity towards all people and professional interaction skills.
  • Effective planning, coordination, and communication skills.
  • Time management and creativity.
  • Basic to moderate technology proficiency, especially with iPads.

Education and Experience

  • Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program and current Kansas license.
  • Experience with people with disabilities is preferred.

Requirements

  • Some lifting for physical needs.
  • Good verbal and listening skills.
  • Reliable transportation and basic iPad proficiency.
