Job Summary:

South Florida Health Care is seeking a dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our home health team. The COTA will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide rehabilitative services to patients in their homes, aiming to improve their ability to perform daily activities and enhance their quality of life. This role involves implementing treatment plans, monitoring patient progress, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the implementation of individualized treatment plans as directed by the Occupational Therapist.
  • Provide direct patient care, including therapeutic activities designed to improve physical and cognitive functions.
  • Monitor patient progress and report any changes or concerns to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
  • Educate patients and their families about treatment plans, exercises, and strategies for daily living.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient care and progress in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an Accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Valid state licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in Florida.
  • CPR Certification
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a COTA, preferably in a home health setting.
  • Strong understanding of occupational therapy principles and practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule.
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • This position involves traveling to patients' homes within the Miami area; reliable transportation is required.
  • Flexible work hours, including potential evenings and weekends, to accommodate patient needs.
