Job summary

Fitchburg Rehabilitation and Nursing Center seeks a Full-Time Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide occupational therapy treatments to residents under the supervision of a Licensed Occupational Therapist to improve independence and functioning.

Responsibilities include assisting with treatment plans, documenting progress, educating residents and families on therapy techniques, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team, and ensuring HIPAA and Residents’ Rights compliance.

Qualifications

• Must have graduated from an accredited Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) program.
• Must hold a valid COTA license and registration in the state of practice.
• Experience with long-term care and/or geriatric care preferred, but not required.
• Experience with Case Mix Index and PPS scheduling preferred, but not required.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Occupational Therapist in providing direct patient care to residents requiring rehabilitation services.
• Implement treatment programs established by the Occupational Therapist according to the patient’s capacity and tolerance.
• Monitor and document residents’ responses to treatment and report progress or concerns to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Help residents improve strength, coordination, mobility, cognitive skills, and functional independence.
• Educate residents and families on therapy techniques, adaptive strategies, and safety procedures as directed by the Occupational Therapist.
• Complete required documentation, including daily treatment notes and other assigned records, in a timely and accurate manner.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to provide patient-centered care.
• Perform all other duties assigned by the Director of Rehabilitation.
• Maintain compliance with confidentiality policies, HIPAA regulations, and Federal Residents’ Rights.
