Responsibilities

A Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) plays a vital role in patient rehabilitation, assisting individuals with physical, mental, or emotional conditions to develop, recover, and maintain skills for daily living and work. Key responsibilities include:

• Patient Care Execution: Implement therapeutic plans under the supervision of an occupational therapist, including instructing patients on adaptive equipment, guiding exercises, and facilitating activities crucial to recovery.
• Activity and Program Planning: Assist in planning and selecting therapeutic activities tailored to each patient's needs and interests, aligning with goals set by the occupational therapist.
• Progress Monitoring: Observe, document, and report patient progress, adjusting interventions as needed to ensure continuous improvement.
• Patient and Family Education: Educate patients and families about therapy processes, adaptive equipment, and home modifications to support long-term recovery and independence.

Qualifications

• Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
• Current license/certification in the state of practice
