Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

Bella Healthcare Center has a position available for a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA). Our therapists are in-house and members of the CommuniCare family.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

• Verifies client information by interviewing clients; reviewing and/or recording medical history; confirming purpose of treatment.
• Helps clients improve their quality of life by assisting them in compensating for limitations, such as helping injured workers improve motor skills and re-enter the labor force, and teaching persons with learning disabilities to prepare meals or use public transportation to increase independence.
• Implements treatment plans through direct treatment and collaboration with Occupational Therapists; educates treatment staff, including fellow therapists and other team members involved in the treatment plan.
• Receives necessary supervision from the Occupational Therapist.
• Maintains professional growth through continuing education and approved learning experiences.
• Maintains confidentiality of all medical records and related information.
• Maintains accurate billing information following facility procedures daily.
• Attends and leads interdisciplinary meetings as appropriate to relay clinical findings and make recommendations.
• Participates in family meetings when appropriate.
• Complies with documentation requirements of the rehab department and facility.
• Assists with staff and family training and education through in-services and consultations.
• Manages supplies by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
• Reviews and adheres to policies and procedures outlined by the facility and CommuniCare Rehab Inc.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited two-year associate degree program in Occupational Therapy Assisting.
• Agreement to abide by NBCOT Practice Standards/Code of Conduct and passing the NBCOT certification exam.
• Passing score on the national licensure examination.
• Current state license/certification.
• Competency in therapy treatment principles, techniques, materials, and equipment utilization.
• Knowledge of state and federal accreditation standards.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Good organizational skills.
• Ability to travel as necessary.
