Responsibilities

A Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) plays a vital role in rehabilitating and caring for patients with diverse physical, mental, or emotional conditions. The main goal of a COTA is to assist individuals in developing, recovering, improving, and maintaining skills necessary for daily living and working. The key responsibilities include:

1. Patient Care Execution: Under the supervision of an occupational therapist, execute therapeutic plans by teaching patients to use adaptive equipment, guiding exercises, and engaging in activities essential for recovery and improvement.
2. Activity and Program Planning: Contribute to planning and selecting therapeutic activities tailored to each patient's needs and interests, aligning with goals set by the occupational therapist.
3. Progress Monitoring: Monitor and document patient progress, observe changes, report findings to the occupational therapist, and adjust interventions to ensure ongoing improvement.
4. Patient and Family Education: Educate patients and families about therapy processes, adaptive equipment, and home modifications, providing clear instructions to support continued recovery at home.

Qualifications
