Responsibilities

• COTA provides comprehensive treatment to patients under the supervision of an OTR.
• COTA assists OT in identifying appropriate patients and referring them to rehab accordingly.
• COTA documents patient participation and progress accurately and timely, obtaining the co-signature of the OTR.
• COTA ensures MD orders are obtained for treatments, re-certifications, and discharges.
• Assist with other documentation requirements as indicated, according to state guidelines.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited university with a BA or Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy recognized by the AOTA.
• Recognized by the NBCOT as a designated COTA (if state-mandated).
• Holds current license and/or registration as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in the applicable state of practice.
