Responsibilities
- Provide occupational therapy treatments to residents according to treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist.
- Assist the Occupational Therapist with tests, evaluations, and complex treatment procedures.
- Observe, record, and report conditions, reactions, and responses related to assigned duties.
- Maintain daily treatment records and document residents' progress notes as directed by the therapist.
- Assist with admission screening.
- Collaborate with family members, physicians, and other healthcare professionals as appropriate.
- Assist with the care of the occupational therapy department and equipment.
- Support in-service programs and meetings as assigned by the Occupational Therapist.
- Engage in continuing education to maintain clinical currency.
- Comply with Heritage Healthcare’s regulatory and professional standards and guidelines.
- Participate in rehabilitation team conferences regarding resident progress, problems, or needs.
- Adhere to company and facility policies, and participate in quality improvement and safety programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Understand reimbursement processes by various payers and allocate resources efficiently to meet resident goals and discharge outcomes.
- Demonstrate knowledge of OBRA regulations, HIPAA, Local Coverage Determination, and third-party reimbursement guidelines.
- Support the company's commitment to Compassionate Care and project a professional image to foster confidence in the rehab program.
- Perform duties independently, recognizing when supervision is needed, and assist others as necessary.
- Maintain expected productivity levels appropriate for the facility.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Current license or eligibility for licensure in the state of practice.
- Prefer experience serving the same age/resident population as the facility.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to understand and follow the Occupational Therapist's directions and facility policies.
- Ability to perform activities safely, including:
- Standing for prolonged periods
- Pushing up to 35 lbs
- Lifting up to 50 lbs independently, with assistance for over 50 lbs
- Stooping, reaching, and balancing
